The Soul & the Scale · Sunrise sits
Your first week.
Seven short sits, one a morning. Each day adds one small thing. If you miss a morning, just pick up where you left off.
- ArriveSit down, face the light, and arrive. Nothing to do yet.
- BreatheCount ten slow breaths out. Lose count, start again. That's the practice.
- ListenClose your eyes. Find the farthest sound, then the nearest, then your own breath.
- HumHum one low note on each breath out. Feel it in your chest, then let it go quiet.
- Feel the groundFeel your weight go down into the seat, the seat into the floor, the floor into the earth.
- Notice lightEyes open and soft. Watch the light change on one wall or one tree. Don't name it.
- Sit with nothingNo count, no hum, no task. Sit until the time is up. Then notice: you sat seven mornings.
Same seat each day if you can. Phone on silent, face down. A glass of water after.
